There is a little mountain in China named Laozhai Shan (Old Village Mountain). In 2010 I climbed this mountain and got a view from the summit that is hard to match. In the foreground is the town Xingping and the Li River. Here the river makes almost a 360 degree turn! In the background are limestone mountains that dot the landscape.

I tried to line up this shot to get the halo right behind the head of the moai. The shot worked, but I had to fuse there different exposures to get the detail in the foreground.

Stayed in this area for three days and it rained the entire time. In this photo the clouds cleared up momentarily to reveal Mount Assiniboine.

This is my favorite shot and it was purely luck. I went here only because my friend wanted to try out his new camera. I didn’t have any expectations, but I set up my camera as well and this was the result.

Moraine Lake, Valley of the Ten Peaks. The low water level made this very popular shot look a little different than usual. This is one of the most photographed lakes in Canada.
